Huckins Atlantic 44

In 1996, Huckins re-introduced their classic 44 that had been popular in the 1950’s. Since then, with their classic style and modern amenities, the 44 has become the favorite of yachtsmen all over the world. Huckins new line of Classic 44’s offers the best of both worlds. The 44 captures the classic grace and elegant design for which Huckins has been long famous – while using the modern building techniques and materials available.

The 44’s profile, with large windows and mahogany toe rails and trim, is as beautiful as ever. The stem has just the right amount of curve, and her long hullsides wrap aft into a tight tubmlehome. The idea with the large windows is to make the salon light and airy so you feel you are outside when you are inside, not in a dark hole – After all that is what yachting all about being outside.

Individuals wishing to avoid the hassles of a large boat and crew will find that the 44’s extra wide side decks and ingeniously disguised handrails will make moving fore and aft extremely easy.

The practically enclosed bridge deck offers an open-air helm station that provides protection from the elements. A center door leads inside, but when going below you will never loose that outdoor feeling.

Her looks are classic but her construction belongs to a new era. Huckins uses fiberglass composite core construction from keel to cabin top. The equipment list boasts the latest in marine technology.

From Standstill the 44 accelerates quickly to a top speed of 30 Knots and with never more than three degrees of bow rise. On plane she rides with no pounding and dry decks. At her 2400 RPM cruising speed she clips along a 26knots and will always guarantee a dry ride.

The Huckins 44 is offered in a one or two stateroom layout. With both arrangements, the interiors are finished in tasteful light colored wall coverings accented with cherry woodwork. To starboard in the saloon a comfortable L-shaped lounge converts to an optional foldout double sleeper. Cabinetry along the portside contains entertainment equipment and the electrical panel. One step down on the portside, the efficient galley features a corian® counter top with a two burner electric cooktop or an optional propane cooktop. Also included is a microwave convection oven, a U/Line refrigerator with freezer and ample utility storage. Opposite the galley the spacious head features a large separate stall shower, corian® lavatory top with full mirrors and an electric toilet. The stateroom offers a clean look with two storage drawers beneath the queen size berth. There are two cedar-hanging lockers. In the two-stateroom model the second stateroom offers upper and lower berths on the port side. The galley moves aft to the saloon and is cleverly concealed as fine cabinetry when not in use.

But more than her individual features, the draw of the 44 is the timeless appeal of her classic good looks and deft handling.
