In 1928, Frank Pembroke Huckins was credited with inventing one of the first planing hull forms known as the Quadraconic® Hull. This planing hull design was the forerunner of the Quadraconic® Hull that Frank Huckins used in designing PT Boats in World War II. Perfected through the years, the famous Quadraconic® Hull is one of the most efficient planing hulls on the water today. Also, during those early years Huckins Yacht Corporation developed the process of wood lamination and patented the process with their laminated oak keel, used in all wooden Huckins Fairform Flyers.
